Premiere

21/11/2020 - Buenos Aires (ARG) - Ensamble NEO - Sergio Yraita (Vibraphone).

Programme notes

Written in 2018, this work was born out of my passion for the sound of the vibraphone. This instrument is known for Its very resonating timbre characteristic, and this makes it one of the best acoustic instruments to naturally shape its timbre. It is possible to make use of multiple types of extended techniques and accessories to shape its timbral properties according to the desired target sonority. Only in electronic music, we can find such instruments with a similar degree of timbral shaping flexibility. While bearing this in mind, I had also the sound of one well-known music chord stuck in my mind. However, I did not want to be easily recognizable, therefore, the blending of this chord is the key for the whole piece.
