Mixed Emotions

€15.00

Premiere

26/06/2013 - Auditório Adelina Caravana - Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga (PT) - Miguel Carneiro (Conductor), Beatriz Martinho (Vibraphone), Bárbara Luís (Piano), Bernardo Barreira and Carlos Domingues (Violin), Rita Morais and Sofia Sousa (Viola), Miguel Braz and Inês Beatriz Ferreira (Violoncello)

Programme notes

This piece seeks to portray how two different emotions can coexist, here demonstrated by the vibraphone and piano, and at the ending where Vibraphone and Piano seem to be together playing versus the strings, each group playing a different emotion, Vibraphone and Piano with a groovy, soft, fast, happy part and the strings with a dense, heavy, slow melody.  Altogether, the combination of emotions (melodies) between the vibraphone and piano with the strings shows how different emotions can not only coexist but combine very well together as well.
