Premiere
3/06/2016 - Sons Ibéricos - Auditório Vianna da Motta - Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (PT) - Orquestra de Sopros da ESML and Conductor Alberto Roque
Programme notes
I wrote this piece as an artistic challenge by adopting a given set of pre-defined rules, such as fixed instrumentation; duration of the work, and a strict deadline for completion. Drawing upon the idea of 'instant creativity' I began to write what I wanted to hear at any moment. This meant that I embarked on this work without any pre-defined basic chords; structure; form or pitches in mind. My approach was to orchestrate the sound that I was idealizing in real time.
